well its time i hit the road again
it’s been way too much time
since my tires hit the asphalt
with no destination in mind

so i’ll drive up through wisconsin
try stating my desires
but every time i see them clearly
i’m stuck down to my chassis in a mire

i’ll take this small escape
from the cityscape
places i have to be

exit on interstates
leave at a faster rate
so i can ditch the concrete

through my natural eyes
i can empathize
with the changing leaves

up lake michigan
where the city’s sin
reaches milwaukee

but in the voids between
burger kings and walgreens
you can smell the earth
you can hear it breathe

so i like to wait
for the transitory states
the ends always seem
a little more like the means
